The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) has commissioned a gap analysis between the the latest available version of the RSPO Principles & Criteria (P&C) vis-à-vis the requirements of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)*. The analysis systematically compared the requirements of the P&C and RSPO chain of custody requirements with those of the EUDR.

The analysis found that, overall, RSPO is in a good position to facilitate its members in their compliance with the EUDR. A number of technical and fundamental gaps were identified between the two systems. The analysis includes concrete recommendations on how RSPO can strengthen the ways it facilitates its members in ensuring EUDR compliance.

The RSPO is currently reviewing its processes, standards and technical tools to best support its members with compliance with the EUDR. These developments include the execution and dissemination of this gap analysis; the development of a new digital platform for traceability and the ongoing review of the RSPO Standards. We are confident that with all of these developments and measures we can ensure that RSPO Certification will be an important tool for our members to support them with their compliance.
